The Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC), established in 2007, holds all three ISQua accreditations — for the organisation, its standards and its surveyor training — and was the first body in the Eastern Mediterranean region to do so. Its hospital standards moved to a fifth edition in force from October 2025.
Licensing sits with the Ministry of Health, while medical devices as products are regulated by the Jordan Food and Drug Administration. The JFDA governs devices placed on the market; it does not publish an instrument on in-service maintenance or calibration, so the operational expectations reach hospitals through accreditation and Ministry programmes rather than device regulation.

No. Jordan's transition window closed in March 2025, so full compliance is expected now rather than being phased in. For a system being procured today that matters: the controls have to be in place at go-live, not scheduled for a later phase.

What does HCAC require specifically on medical equipment?
We will not quote a standard number or wording we have not verified. HCAC publishes its manuals commercially rather than freely, and we have not obtained the current edition — so any specific clause we cited would be second-hand. What we can say is that HCAC's published cluster structure does not contain a dedicated medical equipment or biomedical engineering cluster, so buyers should read the current manual directly rather than assume the requirement mirrors CBAHI or JCI. Does Jordanian law require health data to stay in Jordan?
No. Jordan's Personal Data Protection Law No. 24 of 2023 treats health data as sensitive, and Article 15(A) prohibits transfer to a recipient outside the Kingdom whose level of protection is lower than the Law provides. That is an adequacy test, not a residency rule. The government cloud policy that does require data to remain in the Kingdom binds government entities, not private hospitals. Worth noting separately: the Law makes a data protection officer mandatory where sensitive data is processed, which applies to a hospital running a clinical asset system.
